The Golden Gate Movement is a PROSOCIAL APPROACH that instructs students in the various attitudes, perspectives, soft skills, and pro-social behaviors needed to function effectively in school and their personal interactions.

WHO ARE WE?

The Golden Gate Movement is a collection of pro-social school clubs and initiatives designed to help students develop pro-social behaviors, build soft skills, and make authentic social connections to school and peers.

BUT WE ARE SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT

BUT WE ARE SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT

The Golden Gate Movement may be classified as a prosocial organization, but we prefer to think of ourselves as a community of peacemakers and dreamers, lighting a path for others to follow on our way to a brighter future.

We are the change.

We are the change.

Golden Gate has done wonders with improving the school climate in our middle school. Students have become more outwardly focused and feel integrally a part of the united school effort to promote positive change within our school and the community. I feel like the amount of bullying has decreased and been replaced with constructive efforts of service. The students have become more likely to communicate concerns with trusted school faculty members so that appropriate interventions can be taken.”

“Random people wanted to become my friend because I had the “Stay Kind” logo on my shirt. I felt important for the first time in my life. I could say to myself that I had friends, I am worth it, I am known, and people do care about me and it’s not because they know my family; they care about me because of me. Day 1 of High School: 2 friends Day 450: 36. This is my experience with the Golden Gate Club and I’m proud to be a part of it!”

“The kickoff assembly was motivational and we had a big response from the student body. We had more than 1/3 of the students take the pledge.”

Patrick Orr, Counselor at Sunset Ridge Middle School

The Golden Gate Club has helped me look outside myself and reach out to other people. I’ve made true, long lasting friends through this club and through my efforts of reaching out. This club has also made me feel loved and important. Nothing has brought me more happiness than serving and reaching out to others at school. Golden Gate is not only a club to help you feel included, but also a club where you can make a difference with others.”

Kambry, Student at Bingham High School

“I always felt I wasn’t worth anything. I felt as if I had made the wrong decision to stay alive. One day during lunch when all of the different clubs were there getting new members I signed up for the Golden Gate Club just to make sure that no one would have to feel the same way that I did. This club has been the real thing that has kept me from being where I was. I’m now a junior, I’m now happy, and I’m a living person who has been touched by what this club is. A family. A friend. A club of good people who really want to make a change and help with people.”
